Wellington: Manual Scrape & Biocide FAQ
- Q: Why choose a manual scrape over a low-pressure wash? A: It is down to your preference. Our Low-Pressure Wash is a gentle, specialist service, but the Manual Scrape is our safety-first option that uses no water pressure at all. It is the perfect choice for the historic or delicate tiles often found in Wellington.
- Q: How do I keep the moss from coming back? A: Once your roof is clean, the best way to maintain it is our Roof Care Plan. For a small annual fee (from £180), we provide a scheduled biocide top-up. This keeps the biofilm levels at zero, meaning moss never gets a chance to take root again, and you never have to pay for a full-scale clean ever again.
- Q: Will a manual scrape damage my roof? A: No. Because we use hand-tools shaped to your tile profile and no pressurized water, there is zero risk of causing water ingress. we use roof ladders to distribute weight and ensure your roof is preserved.
- Q: When will I see the final results? A: The scrape removes the moss immediately, then the biocide breaks down the biofilm:
- 1–4 Weeks: Any remaining fragments turn orange and break away with the weather cycles.
- Around 6 Months: Black algae clears and tiles brighten.
- Up to 18 Months: Stubborn lichen finally weathers away.
- Q: What if the moss blocks my gutters later? A: I offer a free gutter-clear guarantee. If moss from our treatment blocks your gutters, I will return to clear them free of charge. (Covers moss only).
- Q: Is it okay if my dog needs a "wee break"? A: Absolutely. We are 100% pet-friendly. If your dog needs to go out, we’ll pause our work immediately.
